The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Critical Role Song

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure by the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for key figures such as the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening looks stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song created by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track originating from the official score of that title, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

But for me, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by musician the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the track was catchy and fun. At the time, I hadn't seen the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have a few changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
